We Don’t Know Whether Tompolo Is Dead – Army

The Acting Director of Information, Office of the Chief of Defense Staff, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar has declared that the army does not know whether Ex-militant leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, Alias Tompolo is dead or alive. Brig. Gen. Abubakar made the statement during his tour of military establishments in the State. HE was also at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel. A judge, Olusola Aluko who ordered the arrest of a prominent traditional ruler in Osun State, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi has handed off the case as police did not arrest the monarch since last year that he issued the bench warrant of arrest against Oba Akanbi. At the court sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun State, (Friday) Magistrate Aluko announced his decision to hand off the case because of the dimension it has taken. Counsel to the plaintiff, Mr Soji Oyetayo told the court that he has filed a notice seeking the leave of the court to withdraw the suit because his client has decided to discontinue the case owing to intervention of some eminent Nigerians in Osun State and some Yoruba leaders. Plot to remove Fayose ‘ll consume Buhari’s govt, says Ekiti PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State on Thursday declared that the alleged subterranean moves to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose would lead to the total collapse of the administration of President Muhamadu Buhari, if eventually carried out. The party said it was reasonable and justifiable that the governor wrote the Acting Chief Justice of the Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, informing him of the alleged moves to co-opt a section of the judiciary to the devilish plot. Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, the PDP State Chairman, Gboyega Oguntuase, cautioned that the alleged plot to remove the governor would create crisis of monumental proportion that would be difficult for the Nigeria Army to curtail. There is excitement among beneficiaries of the N5000 federal government stipend in Kwara following confirmation of payment of the fund. The federal government had announced the payment of N5000 to poor people in the country which was part of the campaign of the All Progressives Congress and covered in the 2016 budget The Kwara state government confirmed that some targeted residents have started receiving their money. Hajia Ayinke Saka who is the state commissioner for women affairs and social development confirmed the payment of the fund. She said beneficiaries included residents from Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin South and that it was spread across the16 local government areas of the state. Saka said the difficulty in opening bank accounts and verification numbers was the cause of the delay for some people and promised that others will start receiving their payment in a week. 'We'll silence Tinubu in North-Central region,' APC leaders vow

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have vowed to silence the party's national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the North-Central region of the country, Punch reports.
