We Don’t Know Whether Tompolo Is Dead – Army

The Acting Director of Information, Office of the Chief of Defense Staff, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar has declared that the army does not know whether Ex-militant leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, Alias Tompolo is dead or alive. Brig. Gen. Abubakar made the statement during his tour of military establishments in the State. HE was also at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel. Abubakar said, “ I don’t know if Tompolo is dead or alive but all I know is that the Armed Forces and other security agencies are ready to mitigate the various security challenges in the Niger Delta Region.” He also bemoaned the spate of criminalities and terrorism in the North East and Niger Delta by the Islamic Sects and promised on behalf of the Armed Forces to continue providing and maintaining security in the area. A judge, Olusola Aluko who ordered the arrest of a prominent traditional ruler in Osun State, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi has handed off the case as police did not arrest the monarch since last year that he issued the bench warrant of arrest against Oba Akanbi. At the court sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun State, (Friday) Magistrate Aluko announced his decision to hand off the case because of the dimension it has taken. Counsel to the plaintiff, Mr Soji Oyetayo told the court that he has filed a notice seeking the leave of the court to withdraw the suit because his client has decided to discontinue the case owing to intervention of some eminent Nigerians in Osun State and some Yoruba leaders. The Magistrate explained that he was not willing to listen to the counsels to the parties in the matter since he has already stepped down the substantive matter. ABUJA—IN pursuit of their quest to wrest political power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders of the emerging mega political association, Action Democratic Party, ADP, yesterday, zoned National Executive Committee slots to the various zones of the country. They also declared their readiness to submit the documents for registration as a political party to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, next week. The ADP is said t o be promoted by aggrieved leaders of the APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Plot to remove Fayose ‘ll consume Buhari’s govt, says Ekiti PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State on Thursday declared that the alleged subterranean moves to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose would lead to the total collapse of the administration of President Muhamadu Buhari, if eventually carried out. The party said it was reasonable and justifiable that the governor wrote the Acting Chief Justice of the Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, informing him of the alleged moves to co-opt a section of the judiciary to the devilish plot. Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, the PDP State Chairman, Gboyega Oguntuase, cautioned that the alleged plot to remove the governor would create crisis of monumental proportion that would be difficult for the Nigeria Army to curtail. Tunde Bakare, pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, says God instructed him not to serve in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in its first two years. The masterminds were described as fifth columnists in the party, who lacked the locus standi to speak for it but out to cause disharmony among members.
